Overall view, folded and hung on the wall; The "Plia folding chair" is now a term (used in AAT) for chairs characterized as a folding chair that could be easily stacked and opened with one hand, composed of a steel or aluminum frame with a press-molded transparent plastic backrest and seat. One innovation was the development of a "3-Disc hinge" for the folding mechanism. The dimensions of this chair folded are 89 x 47 x 4.5 cm. Plia was commercially very successful; from 1969, when production began, more than seven million units were sold. It is manufactured by Castelli, Italy.
