Detail, center sculpture on raised platform with walkway; Installed as part of the program for public art along the Promenade Samuel-De Champlain. To mark its 25th anniversary, the National Order of Quebec (l'Ordre national du Québec) commissioned artist and sculptor Roland Poulin to produce this sculptural work of "collective memory." The Order is a civilian honor for merit in the Canadian province of Quebec. The monument carries the illustrious names and is placed in the historic heart, near one of the oldest docks, of the wooden shipbuilding age. The work was inaugurated 7 October 2010, in the presence of the head of the Order and the Premier of Canada. The construction work was done by Daoust, Lestage, architecture et design urbain.
