Overall view on pedestrian plaza; end of a pedestrian waterfront walkway, looking north; Sculpture created by Roy Lichtenstein for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, located in an urban renewal area near the waterfront, small boat docks. The sculpture was Lichtenstein's first outdoor work using ceramic tile, to acknowledge Antoni Gaudí and Barcelona's affinity for mosaics. Gaudí's technique of trencadis, using broken tiles, is used. The use of Ben-Day dots was a hallmark of Lichtenstein who enlarged and exaggerated them in many of his paintings and sculptures.
