Overall view from front in tower plaza; Overlooking the plaza of JPMorgan Chase Tower (formerly Texas Commerce Tower) is the 55-foot sculpture made of steel and cast bronze. It is Miró’s largest work of the two monumental freestanding Miró sculptures in America. Personage and Birds was enlarged from a 5-foot bronze sculpture on exhibit in the tower. The dedication of Personage and Birds was conducted on the occasion of Miró’s 89th birthday, April 20, 1982. The sculpture was chosen for the plaza by I.M. Pei. From 1966 Miró worked intensely on sculptures based principally on small objects, often objets trouvés, which he joined in surprising ways. His last works were brightly painted.
