South elevation, frontal view, looking up, depicting the "shed" and central window; Hittorff's last work was the Gare du Nord (1861-1864), an iron-framed train shed with a façade incorporating Greek columns and pediments together with wide arches; on this project he worked in close collaboration with company architects.
