The south side of the pier, looking east and depicting sail-like structures; The 1986 World Exposition on Transportation and Communication, or simply Expo '86, was a World's Fair held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada from May 2 until October 13, 1986. Canada Place is a building situated on the Burrard Inlet waterfront of Vancouver, British Columbia. It is the home of the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre, the Pan Pacific Hotel, Vancouver's World Trade Centre, and an IMAX 3D theatre, the first in the world. It is also the main cruise ship terminal for the region, where most of Vancouver's famous cruises to Alaska originate. It was constructed for Expo 86 as the pavilion for Canada and was the only venue for the fair that was not at the main site on the north shore of False Creek. The striking white sails of the building has made it a prominent landmark for the city. Source: Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page (accessed 2/4/2008)en_US
