View looking straight up, full view of cut-off dome with upper left side (note music-making angels and concealed light source); The remainder of Gherardi's career as a painter is marked by this classicizing restraint, often dependent on Bolognese sources. For example, his St Cecilia (1689-1690) in a chapel that he himself designed in the church of S Carlo ai Catinari, still has elements of colour and execution reminiscent of Veronese, but its general conception is based on a Coronation of the Virgin (1607; London, N.G.) by Guido Reni.
