Date
1571-1581Description
General view, from the northeast; Probably the last imposing example of Palladio's late work is the Palazzo de Porto-Breganze (after 1571), Vicenza, although its attribution to him is not uncontested; only two bays remain of the original façade, probably in seven bays. The giant engaged columns are surmounted by a deeply projecting cornice; the rustication of the high plinth storey and the decorative elements of the façade contain echoes of earlier palace façades such as that of the Palazzo da Porto-Festa, but here such elements have been subordinated to the monumental scale and plasticity of the architecture.
